Insert an Image Help
Tutorial Version
- Make sure you can edit your unit (see Edit your Unit )
- To link to an image, such as the Cycle of Inquiry, that is already stored
on a web server:
- Type the code (For example: <img
src="http://inquiry.uiuc.edu/images/circle.gif" alt="inquiry
cycle">) in the section of the Inquiry Unit format where you would
like the image to appear.
- To link to an image that is not already stored on a web server, the image
must first be uploaded onto a web server. You can use the Inquiry Page server
by means of the "upload" feature at the bottom of the Inquiry Unit form.
- If you already know the file location and name(s), type it in the fields
provided. Otherwise, click on the "Browse…" button to the right of each field.
Locate the file you have chosen to upload and double click on it. The file
location and name will now appear in the field.
- Click on the submit button. The file(s) will be uploaded to the Inquiry
Page server under your Unit's directory.
- When you submit your Inquiry Unit, the Inquiry Page will automatically create
a hyperlink to each of your uploaded files at the bottom of your Unit.
- To place the image inside one of the Inquiry
Unit boxes, you can use the following syntax within the box:
<img src="/bin/file_serve.cgi?file=unit_number/filename.jpg">
Instead of "unit_number", you use your own unit number which can be
found in the browser address bar. example:
<img src="/bin/file_serve.cgi?file=u12345/myphoto.gif">
