In this Tutorial you will learn how to:
From any Inquiry web page you will be able to see the “Inquiry
Units” button in the sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen.
Find and click on this “Inquiry Units” button. You are now at the “Search Inquiry Units” page. Follow the instructions below.
You are now at the point where you can search and/or browse Inquiry
Units.
A. If you are already logged-in, the link to searching your Inquiry Unit(s), “Link to my Inquiry Units”, will appear right above the “Search” field.
B. If you don’t want to log-in at this time, type your email address into the “Search” field and click on the “Search” button to the right.
C. A page with your search results will
appear. To view a specific Inquiry Unit from the search results, click
on the “View” button to the left of the desired Inquiry Unit. The Inquiry
Unit will then be displayed.
NOTE: You can search Inquiry Units by topic, name of the person or organization that created the Inquiry Unit, grade level, curriculum, subject area (eg. “science”), OR any combination of these.
A. Type desired search terms in the “Search” field.
B. Click on the “Search” button to the right. You will receive a list of all those Inquiry Units that match your search.
NOTE: Change the order of your search results by clicking on the appropriate button at the top of the search results page. Choose from: “Order by Spin-off”, “Order by Author” (A-Z), “Order by Author” (Z-A), “Order by Date” (Newest first), or “Order by Date” (Oldest first).
C. To view a specific Inquiry Unit from the search results, click on the “View” button to the left of the desired Inquiry Unit.
NOTE: Use this in order to specifically identify Inquiry Units by subject area, grade level, and/or partner project and to choose the Inquiry Units’ display order.
A. Click on the “Advanced Search” button, which is below the “Search” field.
B. If you are looking for a specific Inquiry Unit:
C. If you are not looking for a specific Inquiry Unit, but only Inquiry Units concerning a specific subject area, grade level, and/or partner project, you do not need to type anything into the “Search” field.
D. Check the box next to each field that offers the terms by which you want to limit your search, and click on the “Search” button. You will receive a list of all those Inquiry Units that match your search.
E. To view a specific Inquiry Unit from the search results, click on the “View” button to the left of the desired Inquiry Unit.
A. Click on the “Browse All Units” button to the right of the “Search” field. This will bring up a list of all Inquiry Units.
B. To view a specific Inquiry Unit from the search results, click on the “View” button to the left of the desired Inquiry Unit.
NOTE (optional): Change the order of the list by clicking on the appropriate button at the top of the page. Choose from: “Order by Spin-off”, “Order by Author” (A-Z), “Order by Author” (Z-A), “Order by Date” (Newest first), or “Order by Date” (Oldest first).
NOTE: (The default setting is a mix of the most recently added units and of original/spin-off units. For example, if unit A is created a month ago, and unit B is created yesterday, unit A should be listed below unit B. However, if unit B is a spin-off unit of unit A, unit A should be listed above unit B.)
